This is one of many youtube videos from the group Duck Unlimited. They help try and save our wetlands! We need everyone's help we can get. Because without everyone, one day we won't have any wetlands when we need them the most. Please go look up other videos from Ducks Unlimited! And remember to look them up at www.DUCKS.org!

What is a biome?

We are learning about biomes in school. We each got a different biome to study separately. When we were looking up the definition of a biome, we found the best definition, from, http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/biome. The definition is, a complex biotic community characterized by distinctive plant and animal species and maintained under the climatic conditions of the region, esp. such a community that has developed to climax.

In other words, a biome is a biotic enviroment, that contains specific animal species and plants. It is also catagorized by region, and the weather that is usually found present in this area.

Of all the biomes in the world, do you think any of them share the same species and/or plants?

  1. I think that some biomes share some plants and animals. Forests are very simular no matter what specific kind they are so I think that some biomes can share plants and animals.

  2. We do agree with that, because some plants and animal species can be located in different areas.

  3. I think some biomes share the same species and plants, because some animals or plants can live in different temperatures or conditions.

  4. I think some biomes share the same species for example a polar bear. A polar bear can live in an arctic desert and in a polar tundra. Those are two different biomes but the same organism lives in them. Many plants share the same biomes because some biomes get a very similar amount of water so the same plant can live in a different place.

  5. I definitely think that different biomes can share the same plants and animals. Different biomes of the world can be very similar. So similar plants and animals will probably be there too.

  8. I think that different biomes share the same plants and animals. The biomes that are similar probably have more plants and animals in common than ones that aren't very similar.
